Don't Get Tongue-Tied - What to Say in Your Party Invitations

11 Aug 2008

So you've got the venue down. You've got all the food and drinks that are enough for two parties. You've gotten the games planned and the prizes stowed away, and you've even got the karaoke machine working to its best capacity. So all that's left is your little invitation. And just when you're oh-so-carefully about to write the first letter, it suddenly hits you: you have no idea what to write!

But don't fret! Writing a meaningful and creative invitation isn't as hard as it seems. All you need are the right ideas and the right things to say, just like any other thing that requires communication. So where do you start when you're writing something like an invitation to a baby shower?

First off you should start of with the theme of the party. That should be seen in the outward appearance of the invitation itself. So if you're going to have a party theme based on a certain cartoon character or item, that character or item should be immediately observable when you read the letter itself. So use your creativity for that one!

Second of all, what's an invitation without some important info? You may have provided the theme, but that isn't much to go by when you've left out the other important tidbits and details. So what else should you include? First off you should include the name of the mom-to-be and the hosts. If the baby that's about to be born has a name already, it would be best to include it as well. And together with these, other important stuff to be included are the time and date of the party. It's no use having a party without the essential what-where-who-when information. If you could include a sketch of the directions of the venue, it would be a million times better. Other things to include would be the desired dress code, in line with the theme and the contact numbers of the mom and the organizers.

These are just the basic things that should be included in every invitation. For more of the things that are needed for a wonderful invite, visit:
